Cliff Palace (Compressed)
06.2022  - present

The ancestral Puebloans, once a vibrant civilization inhabiting what we now term the “four corners,” built dwellings into caves of high cliff sides Controversially, the ruins were removed from their original home near Mesa Verde, Colorado and reassembled in Manitou Springs. Today they are depicted alongside modern adobe-style mud brick constructions. A typology of displacement.

This architectural facsimile describes the important role of vernacular typological home design in mitigating forest fires in the American West. This work intentionally puts in conflict the embodied experience and the textbook canon of a place, where narratives are often omitted or overlooked.
